Ownership
Anahon is an independently owned media platform. It is co-owned by:
- Saad Matar — Co-owner and authorized signatory; Program Director.
- Marwan El Cheikh — Co-owner and finance partner.
Ownership has no influence over editorial decisions. Our newsroom operates according to our Editorial Policy, independently of any owner, funder, or commercial interest.
Funding and partners
Our work is supported by grants and partnerships with organizations dedicated to independent media, freedom of expression, and media development. This support never influences our editorial decisions. Our main donors and partners are:
- The Asfari Foundation — grant donor supporting our organizational and program work.
- Free Press Unlimited (FPU) — media-development donor and partner, through independent-media, freedom-of-expression, and media-sustainability programs.
- Maharat Foundation — implementation and grant partner in media development, training, freedom of expression, and civic content.
- Samir Kassir Foundation (SKF) — media and freedom-of-expression partner and funder, including investigative, advocacy, and media-development work.
- AFD / MediaMig Consortium — donor-linked consortium connected to our media-and-migration programming, through the AFD-supported MediaMig partnership with SKF and partners.
