Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 October 2026
AnaHon (أنا هون) is an independent media platform in Tripoli, Lebanon, registered as civil company no. 90/2023 (North Lebanon Court of First Instance, Tripoli). This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask of us. It follows our Information, Data and Source Privacy Policy (P11), which binds everyone who works with us.
Questions or requests: info@anahon.org.
The short version
- You can read anahon.org without an account. We run no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.
- We keep one small cookie to remember your language.
- We never sell or trade personal data.
- The social media accounts our system connects to are AnaHon's own. We use them only to publish our own work.
When you read anahon.org
- No accounts, no ads, no analytics. We don't use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel or any similar tool, and we don't build profiles of readers.
- One cookie.
langremembers whether you read in Arabic or English, so the home page opens in your language. It holds nothing else and lasts one year. - Server logs. Like any website, our server records each request: your IP address, the page asked for, the time and your browser's name. We use these logs only to keep the site running and secure. They are deleted after 14 days.
- Videos and images from other platforms. YouTube videos play through YouTube's privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com), and their preview images come from YouTube's image servers. Facebook and Instagram videos load from Meta only when you open them. Once a video plays, that platform's own privacy policy applies.
When you write to us
If you email us, we use your message and address to reply, and keep them in our mailbox as part of our records. We don't add you to any list unless you ask to subscribe. We share your message with no one outside AnaHon unless you agree, or the law requires it.
Our social media connections
AnaHon's management system can publish our own finished work, after our editorial checks, to AnaHon's own accounts on TikTok, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram. The only accounts connected are AnaHon's own. We don't connect, read or post to anyone else's account.
- TikTok. We ask only for the permissions shown on TikTok's screen:
user.info.basic(the account's ID, display name and @handle, so we know which account is connected) andvideo.publish(to post our videos and photos). We keep the ID, the display name and the @handle. The long-lived refresh token is stored encrypted (AES-256-GCM) on AnaHon's own server. Short-lived access tokens are used and not stored. - YouTube. We ask only to upload videos and to read our channel's details. The token is stored encrypted in the same way.
- Facebook and Instagram. Our system holds the access tokens for AnaHon's own Page and linked Instagram account on AnaHon's own server, to publish posts there.
- Disconnecting. When we disconnect TikTok or YouTube in our system, the access is revoked at the platform and the stored token is deleted. Any account owner can also remove access from the platform's own settings at any time.
- Nothing else. We don't collect followers' data, private messages or other people's content through these connections, and we never sell or share anything we receive from a platform.
People in our journalism and programmes
- Participants in our trainings and activities are told what we collect, why, and who will see it.
- We publish photos and recordings of identifiable people only with their consent. For children, we need the consent of a parent or guardian.
- A promise to protect a source is binding. Information that could identify a confidential source is kept apart and seen only by the people working on that story.
Where your information is kept, and who sees it
- Our records live in AnaHon's own management system on our own server. Each person on our team sees only what their work needs, and opening sensitive records is logged.
- The public website runs on a rented server (Hostinger) and holds only what we have chosen to publish.
- We pass personal data to someone else only where a contract or the law requires it, and then only the part required. We never sell it.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to info@anahon.org. We'll reply and tell you what we did.
Published journalism is kept as a public record. We correct errors openly (see our corrections page) rather than quietly removing them. If you are named in a published piece and believe it puts you at risk, tell us: your safety comes first.
Where Lebanese law or the GDPR gives you stronger rights, those apply.
Children
anahon.org has no accounts and isn't designed for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect children's personal data, except with a parent's or guardian's consent for our programmes, as above.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and its date.
